Trail Overview

Loop 2 is a long, but easy, single track within the Foresthill OHV System. There aren’t any major rock obstacles throughout the 7-mile route, but there are lots of tight twisty turns, a few logs down that you have to ride over, and some small climbs and easy switchbacks that keep it interesting. The switchbacks are wide and gradual, but sometimes deep silt. This trail goes through really dusty and dry terrain, especially in the summer. Although it goes through a pretty open forest, the trail feels a bit tighter in the trees with frequent tight turns. It has some shelfier sections as well, with mild exposure, as it goes along shelfy hillsides. The trail remains a comfortable width throughout – not too narrow during the shelfy sections. Expect a bit more climbing and more elevation change over the 7 miles, gaining and losing about 800 feet throughout the route. At one point, it crosses over a wooden bridge over Forbes Creek, which was dry in summer but could be fuller in wetter months. The north end connects to Tie 2-1 and ends on Loop 1.

Difficulty

This is an easy single track as it doesn’t have any major obstacles, and is generally not very rocky, but it does have some shelfier sections and a few more climbing sections compared to the easier trails in the trail system. Despite the length of the trail, it is still ideal for less experienced riders.
