Trail Overview

The western section of this trail is what provides the namesake. Lots of endless whoops. Big transitions and long sandy sections of sand. Good suspension travel is a must. The trail borders the Golden Valley Wilderness in the west and the naval base property in the east. Lots of great views of the valley and is a good way to enter the Spangler OHV Area if one is looking for a challenging route. Some sections are rocky as well, and sidewall damage may occur. 1 bar LTE service.

Trail was extremely washed out sometimes there was a river bed crossing the trail and then a wall to climb out to reach the other side. Deep ruts and soft sand. Someone in the group got stuck in a rut had to winch out. Do not do it alone. Right now it’s harder than its rating.
