Trail Overview

Lavezzola Road is a scenic and relaxing journey through the thick, vibrant pine forest. The adventure begins on a brief paved section passing by some rustic green outbuildings before quickly transitioning into a wide, graded packed-dirt and gravel track. As you wind your way through the tall timber, you will find the trail is predominantly a comfortable shelf road cut neatly into the mountainside. The surface shifts occasionally to a vibrant orange-red dirt but remains impressively smooth and welcoming throughout the drive. Along the way, you will discover several spacious clearings and wide pull-offs. While the path is generally clear, keep your eyes peeled for standard forestry trail markers and a few minor natural hazards.

Difficulty

We are giving Lavezzola Road a very comfortable Difficulty 2 rating. This trail is essentially a well-maintained forest highway. You will not find any intimidating rock gardens, deep mud bogs, or severe washouts here. The packed dirt surface is highly manageable, predictably smooth, and wide enough to easily maneuver or pass oncoming traffic in most spots. The primary considerations for drivers are the typical shelf-road drop-offs on the downhill side and the occasional overhanging natural debris, like the leaning tree trunk. Overall, this is a beautiful, low-stress cruise that is perfectly suited for standard high-clearance AWD SUVs and stock 4x4 rigs.
