Trail Overview

This is a half paved, half gravel pass that cuts a shorter route through from Johnsondale towards Nobe Young Falls. This relaxed path passes by a smaller waterfall and is accessible by nearly all vehicles. It also ends close to the Trail of 100 Giants on the west side, which is a great stop to see.

This path is a packed gravel road that winds through the mountain. You can travel on it in any vehicle with confidence.

Road is wide, easy to follow, and suitable for most stock vehicles. A 2WD vehicle should have no issues in dry conditions, even when traveling solo. No high clearance or 4x4 required. The waterfall shown on the map is worth stopping for, although only one waterfall was flowing during my visit. There is a nice dispersed campsite right next to the falls where you can hear the water while camping. Several additional dispersed camping spots are scattered throughout the route. Great scenic drive and camping area, but not a technical off-road trail.

Drove quite a ways to get to this & the gate was closed/locked with no sign posted as to why.

Easy, well maintained dirt road. You drive past a couple awesome waterfalls and dispersed campsites. A great detour if you're headed back down to Kernsville from the Sequoia grove.

Super easy, super safe. My brother did it in his BMW M3, if he can do it anyone can lol. Really dusty. Look out for the waterfall. Great lil shortcut, there’s nothing to worry about.
