Trail Overview
Branching off from the main road and clearly marked by brown Forest Service directional signs, this beautiful journey takes you through a dense pine forest along a road that is generally very wide, exceptionally flat, and clearly well-traversed. As you cruise along the hillside, the surface alternates comfortably between smooth, soft dirt and stretches of slightly rockier gravel. There are plenty of large, convenient turnouts available if you want to pull over, as well as a couple of lovely dispersed campsites tucked along the route.
Difficulty
Earning a highly accessible difficulty rating of 2 out of 10, this trail is wonderfully relaxing. For the vast majority of the drive, the road is delightfully smooth, flat, and wide enough to make navigation a breeze. The primary obstacles you will encounter are a few patches of minor washboarding and transition zones where small-to-medium rocks are either loose on the surface or lightly embedded in the dirt path. In the wider, cleared turnaround areas, you may also encounter some shallow, tracked ruts in the softer dirt. To safely protect your undercarriage, simply slow your pace when approaching the rockier stretches, carefully steer around the larger loose stones resting near the shoulders, and maintain a steady, relaxed speed to comfortably absorb the gentle bumps.
