Trail Overview

La Gloria Road is a graded, well-maintained dirt road that connects the Salinas Valley and US-101 with SR-25 in San Benito County. It is the closest connecting road between Eastern and Western Pinnacles (there is no road through Pinnacles). Access starts at the intersection with Camphora-Gloria Road, and the dirt portion of the road starts at the Monterey County Swiss Rifle Club. The road climbs gradually towards San Benito County. On the way up, you'll encounter a beautiful view of the Salinas Valley below. The trail is generally one vehicle-wide, but there are many wider pull-out spots. At the top, the road levels off and winds through live oak, private land, and grazing facilities. The road terminates at SR-25, where you can continue to Hollister or Eastern Pinnacles. 4WD is generally not necessary but is advised when wet. Cell service is good on the Salinas Valley side; it gets spotty on the San Benito side/SR-25.

Came in from 101 side. Overcast conditions led to amazing views from upper elevation. 3 oncoming vehicles total on trail, 1 fisherman and 1 hunter, plus someone on a mountain bike making the trek. If it wasn’t for the rough washboard condition, this would be a better trail to drive on. Will try again in wetter/muddy conditions.

Entered from Highway 25. Some cattle guards and a small entrance likely attempting to deter riff raff. Many private property signs, however like others have updated on their Trail Reports the road/trail itself is open and there are no permits or permission needed to drive on it. The sides of the road are private property, but outlined by barb wire fences. The road is super simple and good for test runs on new vehicles or attempting to get familiar with your rig. The washboarding is a little nuts; 80% of the trail makes you feel like your dash is falling apart but normal and otherwise well graded and in good condition. There are sections of the trail at approximately 8% grade or so. I would imagine entering the trail from the Highway 101 side may have been a bit more interesting climbing rather than the descent from the Highway 25 side. Fun little side road notheless and would do it again 🫡

Surface was mechanically washboarded, didn’t slow down the locals in big trucks. Otherwise great conditions and fun drive.

An easy dirt road all uphill until the crest. Then slightly downhill. Although it appeared that tracks from some sort of heavy equipment were in the road. Felt often times like driving over the marks on the highway that let you know when you drift off lane. Came up from the Salinas penitentiary side and doubled up and went to Hollister Hills OHV. Cool views of an area I drive through a lot.

nice trial, good for very new beginners in summer. Unfortunately there's some illegal dumping around. Surprisingly open views on either side. this is done but it was a rattled shake ride. when wet/not manicured, it could be a sketchy ride going up from Gonzales side. it was pretty private and nice.

Entered from the hwy 25 side. Lots of private property signs, which almost threw me off. Road is public, land on each side is private. Pretty wide trail with some gorgeous views at the top. The San Benito side has some pretty heavy washboard. I ran into one other person on the trail, but there was plenty of room for us to pass. Nothing any 4x4 couldn’t tackle, and probably a lot of cars. Never switched to four wheel, though I imagine that’s different when wet.

Perfectly graded dirt road. Wouldn’t be an issue for really any vehicle. Very scenic route and easy access to East Pinnacles from Salinas Valley.

Fun dirt/sandy road with fun corners and beautiful views of the hills it passes through. Pretty flat with no real ruts but a few washboards. Not much protection keeping you from flying off the side so the speed of safety is paramount.

Gentle, well maintained, graded trail. Trail conditions were generally dry with some sections damp from previous-days rain. Note: East entrance to trail has a few No Trespassing, Private Property, and No Public Access signs posted. The West entrance does not.
