Trail Overview

Kona's Crossing is a moderate trail that takes you across the scenic landscape of the Volcanic Tablelands right to Casa Diablo Mountain (If you start from Fish Slough). This trail consists of varying soil types, from moderately deep sand to cobblestone-style rock to a challenging rocky switchback. This trail features impressive rock formations as you snake through the landscape and into the canyons. Two wash areas may cause a hazard during the rainy seasons. Breathtaking views from the valley floor of the pines galore. The trail intersects Pole Road (4S04), which could serve as a point to peel off and hit it as a side trail or continue through. There is a large pullout from the Casa Diablo Road side that you can park a trailer at if you are hauling your rig, it is a dirt road that is a little less than a mile in so make sure your rig is capable pulling through a dirt road. During winter, snow may be deep enough to block the road at higher elevations.

Ran north to south essential descending all the way down to Fish Slough. Plenty of rocky sections with some steep bits, but nothing technical. Would be harder running south to north because of the constant climb. Great views and changing landscapes.

This trail should be rated no higher than a 3. It is easy enough for a subaru with slight modifications. The trail is nice but rocky enough to be annoying at points. Would still recommend.
