Juniper Flats Southern Access

This generally easy trail leads from the Bowens Ranch gate past the hot springs trailhead parking area and into the vast area of Juniper Flats. This large flat area up in the mountains is full of Juniper trees and Yucca plants. There are a few dispersed campsites scattered throughout the area. The views of the surrounding mountains are spectacular. In the springtime, one may come across massive fields of wildflowers as long as the winter rains have been good. The trail has rutted-out transitions, rocky sections, and a handful of off-camber spots. There are two bars of LTE cell service that fades to none in some sections.
