Trail Overview
Haskell Cross - FS 21N91 is accessed from Haskell Sheep Ranch Road and connects to Mohawk Chapman. This route is a nice, winding forest road that functions mostly as a tree-lined "forest tunnel." While it lacks sweeping scenic views or major points of interest, it serves as an excellent, time-saving bypass if you prefer not to complete the entire Haskell Camp Road to Chapman loop. The trail is lined with lots of wildflowers, so those riding with open helmets or on motorcycles should be particularly cautious of bees. The surface is primarily smooth, packed dirt with only a few minor embedded rocks, none of which extend for more than 20 feet. It is a relatively flat and easy cruise where vehicles can comfortably pick up a bit of speed. There are a few pullouts available for dispersed camping if you are in a pinch, but be aware that most are uneven or just off the main path.
Difficulty
This trail earns a 2 due to its smooth dirt surface and lack of significant obstacles. The elevation profile is gentle and relatively flat, gradually descending from approximately 1,947 meters to 1,829 meters over the course of the route. It is wide enough and smooth enough to be easily navigated by almost any high-clearance vehicle.
