Trail has a bit of everything some rocky sections but mostly sand. Super cool to do it in the dark. I went up instead of down and if you do this trail at night make sure you have pods. But super easy 2wd on all terrain tires and a 3 inch lift.

The trail was smooth from the trailhead to where you can split off; the slight left will take you to Yaui Flats or take the right to Hwy78. I was heading to Plum Canyon to map that trail.

Didn't see an official Jasper Road Trail on OnX so I'm using the Grapevine Canyon trail for this report.
Took Jasper Road down to the junction with Grapevine Canyon.
Jasper Road was fun with some ruts and a fairly steep downhill section toward the end. Didn't see a need for 4wd, but if you planned on doing this in reverse (comingn back uphill), I think you'd need 4wd to make it up.
The first part of Jasper Road was pretty easy with some ruts, but got more difficult after reaching the top of the hill and beginning the descent. I would not recommend anything without some clearance.
Taking Grapevine Canyon back up to Montezuma Valley Road was very easy going.

Great trail. Pretty smooth. Gets a little rough in a few areas, but for the most part, it’s wonderful.

It's a fun trail to bypass the main two-lane highway. There are a lot of No Trespassing signs so stay on the main road. Nothing complicated on this trail - it's bouncy because it's worn down but it's an easy drive. A few possible camp spots on the Borrego Springs portion if you're interested.

Beautiful morning on the trail. Saw some campers that were a little too close to the trail in my opinion. Loved the spots where you can open it up for a bit. Only saw one other vehicle that was on a whole different level than my ride so I pulled over after he let me know he was there. It was an awesome retro Bronco that was fast and drove like it was floating!!🤙🏼 I only took one picture of the mountains trying to hold back the clouds.

Yes it goes through some private property, but as long as you go a respectful speed and stay on the main road you're fine. Just dont be a hooligan. Lots of soft sand so rear wheel drive is a bonus or at least some aggressive tires. Saw a few spots where someone riding a motorcycle almost wiped out because of the sand in the center of the road. Overall very easy road and only turned on 4hi for better sand steering. Easy easy trail and very enjoyable. Saw a few jackrabbits too.

Rode this on a street-legal Triumph Tiger 900. Extremely sandy—recommend caution for heavy adventure bikes by mentally bumping difficulty rating to 3.

Long, mostly flat, and sandy for most of the trail. Very reasonable to do in a Subaru or something similar. I did not have to put my pickup in 4x4 until I turned off onto Jasper trail. We walked to the marked spring but it was just cool damp ground this time of year. Overall I nice back country drive, but not much of a trail. Sand would be somewhat tiring on a motorcycle as the trail is around 10 miles long

Washboard on either end of the trail, but the rest was easy. There are a few ruts on the north end of the trail, but fairly easy to navigate around. If you start on the north side, there appears to be about a 1/4 mile of private property that you go through (there are signs noting that it's private property), but there are no gates.

Just starting out and this was a pretty easy trail. Vegetation is growing so could get some pin striping
