This narrow dirt and gravel trail branches off 4S01B and descends through the hills toward the highway. Expect tight turns, switchbacks, and frequent rock gardens with rocks ranging from 2–10 inches in diameter. Trees become especially tight in some sections, although the switchbacks have enough room for multi-point turns. Around 0.8 miles, the forest opens to incredible 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains and Yosemite in the distance. At 1.1 miles, a level, shaded campsite accommodates up to two vehicles and offers excellent mountain views.
