Trail Overview
This maintained trail has some challenging sections due to deep mud ruts that have hardened into uneven ridges and deep holes. Soft sand and mud can set like clay, leaving a rough surface even when the road is dry; during the rainy season, the ruts can become muddy and hard to navigate, so take it slow and use extra caution. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended, as a standard sedan would struggle with the uneven terrain. A few dispersed camping options line the route, including a small area near the northern end and another spot toward the southern end with a fire ring. This route is subject to Seasonal Designation from April 1 through December 25. Please check local regulations and current conditions before traveling. ATVs, UTVs, Side-by-Sides, and Dirt Bikes must always have a valid California ATV Operating Permit sticker.
