Trail Overview
This short, fine-dirt trail offers exceptional views of Mono Lake, traveling closer to the shoreline than many surrounding routes. Around 0.1 miles, the trail begins a steep descent over extremely soft dirt and sand, requiring 4WD or AWD. Near the end of the route before it loops back, a scenic overlook provides an excellent spot for lunch or a break with expansive views of Mono Lake and the surrounding mountains. When exiting, drivers can climb back up the same steep hill or connect to FS 2N19 to avoid the hill climb.
Difficulty
This trail is rated Level 3 because of the steep hill and extremely soft dirt and sand. 4WD or AWD is required for adequate traction, and wet conditions can make the route considerably more difficult.
