Trail Overview

This 2.5-mile out-and-back trail is short but demanding, climbing over 400 feet along a steep shelf ridge with a few switchbacks before ending at the top of Fort Mountain. The trail is very narrow with lots of overgrown deer brush throughout, and drivers will get pinstripes as they push through this dense vegetation. The route features uneven surfaces, ruts, and logs to go over, all remaining under 12 inches, requiring careful attention to line selection during the steep climb. The combination of the narrow overgrown corridor, shelf ridge exposure, and technical surface obstacles makes for a compact but engaging climb toward the summit viewpoint at Fort Mountain.
