Trail Overview
This out-and-back trail crosses a flat, barren wasteland, connecting EC1187 and EC1195. The surface is hard-packed sand with embedded rocks and gravel providing solid traction across the desolate terrain. You'll enjoy views of surrounding mountain ranges in all directions, including the Trigo Mountains, as you traverse this open landscape. The trail eventually runs along a cliff edge, looking down into a canyon, adding dramatic scenery to the barren setting. The route ends on the border of the Yuma Proving Grounds as part of the Department of Defense, where further travel is restricted.
Difficulty
This is an easy trail with excellent surface conditions on hard-packed sand with embedded rocks and gravel. The flat terrain makes navigation straightforward. The main consideration is the cliff-edge section, which requires attention and respect for the exposure, but the trail surface itself remains easy throughout. Stay on the designated route and do not enter the Proving Grounds.
