Trail Overview
Winchester is one of the more technical and scenic routes in Corral Canyon. it has a mix of granite obstacles, tight switchbacks, and flexible climbs. The terrain varies between slickrock, decomposed granite, and loose sand
Mile 0.0 – Trailhead (Four Corners):
Access from the staging area; the entrance is clearly marked as 2W12 (Winchester) off Gunslinger Trail. Engage 4-low right away — the rocks start early.
Mile 0.5 – Technical Granite Crawl:
Expect some off-camber granite ledges and tight lines between boulders.
Mile 1.0 – Big Rock Step:
A notable rock step (roughly 2–3 ft) that can be bypassed to the right but offers a great photo spot if you take the climb. This is a fun test of suspension travel.
Mile 1.5 – Narrow Ridge Line:
Trail tightens with exposure on the passenger side and excellent views toward Los Pinos Mountain. Watch your tire placement.
Mile 2.0 – Rock Garden:
A boulder field section with multiple lines — the left side is the harder route, offering big articulation and traction challenges.
Mile 2.5 – Exit / Connector:
You’ll pop out near Los Pinos Mountain Road, which connects to Sidewinder (2W10), Bronco Peak (2W11), or back toward the Los Pinos Lookout for views of the whole area.
