Trail Overview

This hidden gem is part of Anza Borrego Desert State Tark. From the Boreggo Salton Seaway turn into Rockhouse Canyon Road. The sign at the intersection says "no exit" but the road is long and leads to a beautiful hidden dry salt lake bed which is located at an offshoot from the main trail. The road is heavily corrugated but mostly flat and easily traversed with the highest clearance 4-week drive or all-wheel drive. Park right before the dry lake bed and walk across the dry lake.

Difficulty

The trail is mostly flat but narrow and can accommodate one vehicle wide. The road is corrugated across the entire trail. It is easily accessible by most 4WD and 2WD as long as you're not trying to park too close to the lake bed where deep mud exists under the dry lake bed and can be tricky to get out of.

Super easy but rough road. Made it to the north end of the lake and headed back. Great views, some spots looked a little muddy but they were areas you weren’t allowed to drive over anyway. Saw a few SUVs and jeeps

Very easy trail but rough and washboard road for the most part. Amazing views at the lake great lunch spot. Used our Jeep shadow for shade. No trees or structures at the lake.
