Trail Overview

This trail is a high-stakes adventure with one of the best views in the Sierra! It begins by wiggling through the devastating 202 Creek Fire burn scar and then scrambles up through a boulder field. The climax is the final ascent along a narrow, exposed granite ridge edge to the summit. traction is good on the ridge edge, but there are a couple of locations where the off-camber tread makes you pause. A rollover off either side of the edge would be deadly. The views over the Ansel Adams Wilderness and the North Fork San Joaquin River canyon are absolutely unforgettable.

Difficulty

The trail requires high clearance and 4WD for the initial boulder field. The difficulty rating is primarily due to the extreme consequences of error on the narrow track along the granite ridge and the minor off-camber challenges.
