BLM SE743

BLM SE743 is a short, accessible out-and-back spur that branches off Walker Creek Road and makes for an easy add-on to that route or a standalone mellow desert run. The trail travels through open BLM land before terminating at a locked gate marking the boundary of private property, which is the site of the Jackrabbit Homestead, also known as the Eastern Sierra Experiment. The surrounding terrain is classic lower Eastern Sierra desert: low scrub brush and scattered Joshua trees framing a loose sand surface embedded with rocks and small boulders. The mix keeps things mildly engaging without demanding much technically. Views are the highlight here. The Coso Range rises prominently to the east, and the Eastern Sierra forms the backdrop to the west, which is a clean, unobstructed panorama that rewards the short drive in.
