Trail Overview

This trail starts off Medicine Lake Road, running through the Shasta National Forest in an area of thinned pine forest dotted with greenleaf manzanita bushes. The trail surface is fine, dusty dirt with some very small rocks, maintaining a width of 1 to 1.5 vehicles throughout. Drivers will encounter some ruts under 6 inches along the way, along with a handful of large logs that require maneuvering around. In spots, the trail tightens up due to overgrowth from new pine trees and brush. The trail comes to an end at a boulder boundary marking the edge of private lumber company property.

Difficulty

This trail has an easy difficulty rating 2, with the main considerations being the small ruts under 6 inches and maneuvering around the large logs blocking parts of the route. The tighter, overgrown sections add some minor brush contact, but overall the trail remains approachable.
