Trail Overview
This 5.7-mile trail climbs 433 feet and drops 671 feet as it winds through the area. The surface is made of sand, pumice, and gravel. The trail starts off 1.5 vehicles wide and runs through a small canyon surrounded by pine trees, brush, and interesting rock formations. You'll encounter whoops, ruts, washboards, and off-camber sections throughout. The Eastern Sierras peak through the trees as the trail cuts back and forth through the forest. The route travels on various shelf sections as it descends.
Difficulty
This is an easy to moderate trail. While there are various surface conditions, including whoops, ruts, and washboards, they're manageable. The shelf road sections and off-camber areas require attention, but aren't technically difficult. The wider starting width is a plus for navigation.
