Trail Overview

This short, relatively flat trail serves as a connector from Highway 395 to Deadman Loop, FS2S2111, and Lower Deadman Bridge trails. It begins on the west side of Highway 395 just north of the rest area and winds through a sparse pine forest with brush along the sides. The road surface is mainly packed dirt with sections of gravel, and while the route is generally smooth, there are stretches of washboards, small ruts, and a spot with rocks that can easily be bypassed. Along the way, drivers are treated to views of Deadman Dome, Obsidian Dome, Earthquake Dome, Dry Creek Knoll, and Mammoth Mountain.

Difficulty

Mostly flat and straightforward, but the washboards, ruts, and minor rock sections raise it above a simple dirt road. Suitable for high-clearance vehicles, though a 4x4 is not strictly required unless conditions worsen.
