Trail Overview

The Northern entrance into the Ouachita National Forest leads to a beautiful large quiet campsite on the South Fourche LaFave River. The road leading to this location is gravel when coming from the north. Once you turn right on Long Caney, it turns into a mud hole road all the way to camp. Lots of trees and pine trees cover the area. The campsite even features a boat ramp to the river for those who want to kayak.

Difficulty

The depth of the mudholes is why I chose this rating. Some of them are pretty deep. You might need a rear differential breather.

So, the trail itself is very easy. I'd honestly give it a 1 out of 10. That said I'm on aggressive 35's. I wouldn't take a Civic through but a stock vehicle will make it. All mud holes are rock bottom and the deepest was about 15 inches. The trail was very tight for a Wrangler, but full-size will make it if you don't mind some pinstriping. There was one part on the trail that starts to washout and it has one very deep washout at the end before the road curves to the right. hug the tree line on the left and you'll miss it. There are a few dispersed camp sites along this route.

Several mudholes with solid bottom until you get close to the Fouche at the west end. There’s some mudholes there that look questionable that I stopped short of.

Lots of deep hard bottom mud holes, to get to the top, there is a steep washout probably 2 feet deep. Beautiful view at the top though!!
