Trail Overview

Lindsey Ridge Trail has a lot to offer, from mud pits to rock crawling. Starting from the north end of the trail it is bumpy and easy to navigate. But soon turns into a challenging trail as it descends down the ridge with off-camber sections, many boulders, and ledges up to 2ft in places. As you get to the bottom section of the trail you will encounter many mud pits with unknown depths to carefully pick a line through or around. On the south end of the trail, it is a mild dirt road. This challenging trail presents you with nonstop obstacles throughout the majority of the trip. I would recommend a friend, a lift, and at least 33" tires to complete this trail. I also would advise you not to go after heavy rains.

Difficulty

There are several boulders and ledges up to 2ft in height, and the mud pits can be very tight to navigate around. During the Rainy season, it is likely that a few sections may be impassable. A spotter is a must and I would highly recommend recovery gear. I could rate this trail at a 5, however with it presenting a new obstacle around every turn it can also be a test of endurance.

Gate on the north end is closed. People have went around it. Wide open from the south end.

Trail was clear from any downfall. The mud holes have gotten progressively worse, but you can navigate around them if you’re rig is nimble enough and can articulate with the uneven terrain getting around the severe ruts. Some of the holes are now 4-5 feet deep and an obstacle for the most built buggies or side by sides. Trail is closer to a 6 than a 5 with the ever changing terrain.

Normal conditions. Some trees down but there are reroutes to get around but you better be narrow and maneuverable. Lots of mud holes with reroutes. Not possible to stay clean/dry.

I have this trail at a 7 to an 8. High clearance is required. I spent almost all the time in 4H with the remaining time in 4L. I had to use 4L just to climb some of the rock ledges and it was a dry day. There are deep mud pits (had to winch myself out of one), high rock ledges and points, washouts, and tight navigation.

The rating on this trail is super off, at least in the conditions we were in the trail should have been an 8/10, super deep mud pits that you have no choice but to go through, I would recommend at least 11in of ground clearance and 3ft of water fording. I would also recommend starting on the north end and going south as it should be much easier that way. It took us about 3 hours to complete the trail and unfortunately took my transmission with it.

A very fun and semi challenging trial for full sized rigs. Did this in my GX470 on 35s and a 3.5” lift. Highly recommend. If you start at the souther point the top of the trail has a beautiful overlook of the valley/mountains. There is a great campsite at the top!

Easy ride in my short bed Tacoma. Couple of fun navigating spots. Unfortunately it ends in some rather large mud pits and a downed tree. Maybe a side by side could make it through, but not worth the risk in my truck.
