Gunner Pool Road

This wide and well-maintained trail descends toward the Gunner Pool Recreation Area, a scenic campground set along a river with both deep and shallow swimming areas. It is a peaceful place to camp and explore the forest during the week, although weekends can become quite busy and noisy. As one of the more heavily traveled routes in the region, the trail surface is heavily corrugated, especially along the steeper ascents and descents. The Gunner Pool campground offers numerous sites, including a large sandy camp beside the river that is ideal for summer recreation, though alcohol is prohibited. Facilities on this route include toilets and trash disposal, but there are no showers (have a swim), and there is no cell service.
