Trail Overview
This challenging trail is said to be one of the more difficult public trails in Arkansas. From the south, the trail climbs immediately up the mountain with a narrow trail and large rock ledges. Expect extreme slopes over 25-degrees and ledges up to 38-inches. The hill is nicknamed "Winch Hill" due to the frequent need to use a winch to complete. Most obstacles do not have a bypass. Once at the top, the trail mellows with mud holes becoming the primary challenge. Many are very soft and 18-plus inches deep. Before meeting Highway 7 the trail becomes more of a scenic, winding, bench cut trail with fun switchbacks. Recommended use during dry conditions since mud and slippery rocks become very difficult to complete on the steep slopes.
Difficulty
Off-camber trail with deep holes and large rocks that may exceed axle height. Expect erosion, loose rocks, sand, washes, shelves, and deep mud holes. Obstacles and ledges up to 5 feet, and near-vertical grades 8 to 10 feet tall. Caution: Vehicle damage and roll-overs are possible.
