Trail Overview

The trailhead acts as the perfect spot to air down. Equipped with pit toilets and picnic tables, you can enjoy the view over the valley while your tires decompress. Most of the trail is fairly easy with the exception of two technical rock obstacles; once you've cleared those, you'll wind your way through trees, cacti, and thin, dry creek beds. You'll cross a wider, dried-up washout at the bottom of a short hill, then finally arrive at the abandoned and overgrown paddock as well as some stunning camping spots in the shadow of the Hualapai mountains.

Difficulty

Most of the trail is fairly easy with the exceptions of two steep rock obstacles and some rough terrain over some off camber sections which makes the trail impassable without high clearance and a short wheel base.

History

Hualapai means "people of the pines" named for the American Tribe that inhabited the mountains until their relocation in 1870. The mountain park itself was created by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the great depression.

The fist part of the trail wasn’t bad and I was actually rather enjoyable, and was exactly how described and previous reviews. However, in our trip, we got some certain point approximately 75% into the trail where there was 1 foot drops along a rock obstacle. You’re definitely recommend taking in a truck with rock sliders and skid plates as well as winches and repair kits. Got to that point and had to back up, which was about a mile of backing before we were able to turn around and exit the trail. all in all a fun and challenging trail, just more challenging than what my truck was capable of taking without equipment and possibly a second truck following.
