Trail Overview
Trail 0079 is an easy, scenic one-mile desert connector trail near Quartzsite, Arizona, perfect for beginners, families, and offroaders looking for a quick, relaxed cruise through the desert. Starting just off paved Plomosa Road via road Lp065, this wide-open route provides gorgeous mountain views and connects seamlessly to an extensive network of surrounding BLM trails. It features minimal elevation change, ranging from 1,280 to 1,335 feet, making it highly accessible for high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles, SxSs, and dirt bikes.
The terrain consists primarily of hard-packed dirt and gravel, though drivers will encounter a few shallow sandy washes that require maintaining steady momentum. Dispersed, primitive camping options are plentiful near the paved road entrance on Bureau of Land Management land, offering an ideal base camp for multi-day desert adventures. The route ends at a junction with trails BS1248 and BS1249, making it a handy link for designing longer custom loops through the Plomosa Mountains.
Access Description
The trail is located on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land and is open year-round. No permits or fees are required to access or drive the route. Dispersed camping is allowed in designated areas, subject to a 14-day limit. All vehicles must be equipped with appropriate off-highway vehicle decals or registrations where applicable.
