Trail Overview

This is a short leisurely cruise through the desert. It is great for beginners, sightseeing, or testing out new parts. Parts of this trail pass through Arizona Trust Land, so a pass is required. The vast majority of this trail is a single-lane dirt road, with a few wash crossings. The highlight of the trail is a small hill climb which gives you an awesome view of the valley and city of Maricopa. From there, it's a short, rocky descent down to the end.

Difficulty

The trail is mostly an easy ride with a couple of washed-out areas. The end is a rocky descent. It's the most challenging portion but easily handled by a stock high-clearance vehicle.

First time off roading on this trail. It was a fun little trail to get me into it. Never stalled out and made it out with only a check engine light on! Good times

Nice ride we went the back so we hit rock climb on the mountain first then back around the front of the mountain. The rock climb is pretty good to test your side by side. It took about 2 hours from where we started to do the whole loop. This app worked great for gps

This is my first trail ever. I bought a used GX 460 luxury edition and drove it through the trail in the stock form. Overall, the car did really well however towards the end of the trail, there were many points where I was concerned that I would scratch the front bumper. Hence I know the next time I will likely do suspension lift. The trail is rated 3/10, I would give it 5/10 based on my vehicle’s limits. I enjoyed it as a beginner and would likely go back again.

Top of the Mountain is a great beginner-friendly off-road trail in Marscapona, Arizona. It’s an easy ride, taking about an hour or two, with stunning scenic views and plenty of picturesque spots. The trail is mostly smooth, but towards the end, it gets a bit rocky and steep—nothing a standard 4x4 or off-road vehicle can’t handle. One downside is the overwhelming amount of trash and industrial debris scattered throughout the area. It’s unfortunate to see such a beautiful spot littered with so much waste. Despite that, the trail offers plenty of fun, with offshoot trails to explore and open areas perfect for some light off-roading fun. It’s a great option for a quick ride or a family outing.

Extremely dusty, bring goggles and dust mask if riding an open vehicle. Fun, easy and short trail.
