Trail Overview

31N offers a bypass around the main hill, making it a smoother alternative while still maintaining some challenges. The trail is a one-lane route with rolling hills and occasional off-camber sections, though no major obstacles. Wash and ditch crossings add variety to the terrain, but the northern end opens up into a more enjoyable and scenic stretch. With 5G service available in some areas, navigation and communication are more reliable compared to other remote trails.

Difficulty

This trail is unmaintained and bypasses the main steep, rutted hill on the northern end. The bypass is mellower but still supplies a climb, with less risk than the steeper, main hill. This hill pops out into rocky pasture, where cows graze, so please use caution. Mostly one lane, there are places to pass once up in the pasture. Cell service goes in and out on this trail, so offline maps are recommended.

There was a washout at the top of the Badger Springs pipeline hill! Had to divert around a huge boulder at the top of the hill.

Heavy water erosion. Really bad spots had a good go around. Jeep rubicon was the right vehicle, the short wheelbase was a plus.
