Trail Overview

The OHV trails here are extensive. You could spend days exploring this area. If you want a fun, challenging obstacle, try the canyon east of Squeeze Rock. ATVS, UTVs and dirt bikes will especially like this network of trails.

Difficulty

Difficult: Although most of the route is easy to moderate, the northern loop is extremely steep and narrow. Be very careful as ruts and washouts are constantly changing. Turn around if necessary. Modified vehicles are best, but a skilled driver can do this trail in an aggressive stock high clearance SUV.

Burnt out car still partially blocking at obstacle. SxS or possibly short wheel base jeeps might make it through. I did not try.

Went out in the SXS today. Beautiful conditions. Large obstruction (Burnt down vehicle) at 3470. Be careful. Full size vehicle may not clear. It was tight with SXS. Vehicle was still smoking when I was there at 10am. (5-4-26)

I went around this entire trail today and some of the offshoots in a stock jeep Sahara rented from Hertz, it was sketchy, but it worked out. You either have to be an exceptional driver or you need to come in with something serious. Definitely skip plates. However, because I am a really amazing driver. I pulled it off in a Sahara stock.

The description is accurate, there was only one portion where it would be beneficial for a buggy or heavily lifted vehicle, which is the photograph. I got through with my Bronco Badlands but heavily scraped the skids and I would not do it again. Was certain I was going to break something and I just sent it lol. The area was these insane boulders. There are some other areas where the tilt and pitch of your vehicle was pretty intense, especially if this was your first time off roading.

Gorgeous day to ride! It was sunny, warm and low dust due to the recent rains. As always, the shooting areas were trashed but otherwise amazing!

Over all wet conditions with lots of erosion and ruts from tires. Was able to navigate the trail with a RZR on 32's and a Chevy Colorado on 32's. The detour from erosion goes as follows Take P4018 West / South West to P4007. Then follow P4007 North West until it turns into FDR1876 Take FDR1876 until P4062 Follow P4062 east until back on Sycamore creek road. A photo is attached to this trail report.

As others have mentioned, trail as published is definitely not a 4/10 due primarily to the obstacle just north of P4018. The trail narrows, goes up, and at the top is a large rock, at least 3’ tall. It looks like a complete dead end but I guess it’s technically passable. I wouldn’t try it unless you have a jeep with an aftermarket front bumper. There may be bypasses but didn’t have time to check them out.

Did the old upper/lower Sycamore trail from north with M4W group. Mid difficult route with harder options. little traffic on northern area with few on the route total. Many vehicles closer to the entrance with large presence of Sheriff and Tonto Rangers. 2 stock JLs and older Grand Cherokee in group.

Like previous posts have said, this route is definitely not a "4" due to the obstacle north of P4018. I was headed north so I bypassed by going up FDR1876 and across P4062. That route was probably not a 4 either... probably a 5 but was doable and runs pass a cool quartz shelf at the top of the hill where P4062 breaks off FDR 1876.
