Trail Overview
Granite Wash Trail begins at Tank Trail and can be traveled in either direction. Heading west leads to a scenic granite slab at the end of the route, providing a great place to stop before turning around. Traveling east crosses Tank Trail and enters a long desert wash characterized by deep sand, loose gravel, and continuous washboard terrain that creates plenty of chatter along the ride.
The wash is bordered by high, eroded banks carved by seasonal runoff, creating an impressive desert corridor and providing natural shelter for wildlife. Watch for larger rocks scattered throughout the wash, as additional rainfall can expose and move new rocks into the travel path over time. While there are no technical obstacles, maintaining control through the deep sand and washboard surface requires attention and a comfortable pace.
This is a fun, scenic trail for riders looking to experience a classic desert wash without difficult obstacles. Because it follows an active drainage, the trail is impassable when wet and should never be entered during storms or when flash flooding is possible.
Difficulty
A wide wash with washboard gravel & deep sand and scattered rocks. There are no technical obstacles, but the loose surface and continuous chatter require good throttle control and attention to wheel placement. Impassable when wet due to flash flood potential.
