Trail Overview

This off-camber, challenging trail is narrow with deep ruts and drainage drop-offs in spots. It travels through grassy, open wild horse territory and through some eroded washes. Ponderosa Pines line the route along with skunkbush sumac, chokecherry, and red osier dogwood. This route is seasonally closed at the southern end. It is the least-traveled trail from FS 46 Clay Chaos to FS 161 West Fork.

Nice drive today. Saw some elk. Had to use 4x4 twice. Rocky loose river pebbles about baseball to soccer size. Any all wheel drive suv, pickup, van could navigate this. High clearance is best but not necessary. About an hour drive for the loop. Brush is encroaching the road a bit so expect some rub but not bad. Fun trail
