Trail Overview
Stone Cabin to Jacobs Well (Black Rock Road 1004) is a 9.5-mile point-to-point trail rated 3 of 10 located in Mohave County, Arizona. This is a little-used section of Black Rock Road that connects Elbow Canyon with County 101. Located on the north end is the Stone House which appears to have been used over several generations. The original construction of stone walls on the outside is reminiscent of late 1800s construction. But the inside has obviously been more modern with a concrete veneer and more modern truss system. The trail follows along the western edge of the Paiute Wilderness area and generally follows the Cottonwood Wash. The trail is a single-track consisting of hardpack dirt and rock. The trails southern ends at Jacobs Well which is still an active working cattle ranch that has grazing rights on the surrounding BLM land. Visible here are the catch pond as well as coral and remains of a windmill. The trail from Jacobs Well south on County 101 is an easy single track that can be driven by any high clearance 2 or 4WD vehicles. The Grand Canyon- Parashant National Monument is one of the most remote areas in the country. Cell phone service is intermittent and the nearest services are located in Mesquite.

Trail consisting of loose rocks, dirt, and sand with some slickrock surfaces, mud holes possible, no steps higher than 12". 4WD may be required, aggressive tires a plus.
