Trail Overview
Trail Ss1012 from Artesia Road, this trail heads north as a continuation of Ss1012 from the south. It is a sandy gravel route that follows the powerlines through creosote and mixed desert cactus. Features gentle rolling hills, a few curves, and scattered camping spots with several side spurs. About 1 mile in, you’ll reach a green fence. Leave it as you found it. The north section begins on State Trust Land (permit required if stopping to camp or air up/down), then quickly transitions to BLM until the private property near the end. This trail connects to Ss1004 just before the private property boundary. Easy overall, nothing technical, high clearance 2WD friendly & 4WD. Some whoops and tight overgrown brush, and one easy but noticeable off-camber section. Several small washouts to cross are manageable in 2WD if taken slow Multiple small ruts toward the end, watch your speed. Could become impassable in wet weather.
