Squaw

The Squaw Trail was such a pleasant surprise to encounter! This trail meanders pleasantly through a beautiful Ponderosa Pine section of the Kaibab National Forest. There are some sections of wildfire evidence as you drive through a burn scar, but mostly this trail traverses a healthy forest. The trail itself has some erosion and water damage, as well as some deep mud ruts that will put you off-camber, but other than that there are no major obstacles on this trail. Typical of the area, and Arizona in general, the trail does get a bit rocky on the uphills and downhills. There is tons of shade on this trail, so it's a great place to enjoy a picnic or some shed hunting if you're into that sort of thing. There are some cliff bands to explore, as well as a rocky creekbed that runs along a good portion of the trial. The North end of the trail exits to private property that is well-marked. Overall, if you like time in the trees, this trail is a great one to spend some time on!
