Trail Overview

This is a fun little route with few people but ample wildlife. Just be cautious of vehicle width, as many parts are narrow and can result in light scratches to the clear coat. This trail is great for a bird watcher and while it's easy to navigate. You might need to keep your speed up in some of the sand sections. This trail is not recommended for passenger cars due to low ground clearance. However, a crossover SUV similar to a Subaru Crosstrek should have no issues.

Easy trail. Due to the huge amount of rain over the weekend there were some deep puddles and muddy sections.

Took this trail from the 85 all the way west until it turned south into Stephens Point Trail. Even took the super short spur north to complete the entire trail. The majority of this trail is in good condition with an EASY rating, but the recent storms, monsoons, and Labor Day usage have left a few parts rutted out, but that's towards the end of the trail in the west. Most stock SUVs can do it in this condition but you might scrape due to some of the deeper ruts formed from the last few storms. I made it just fine in a stock AWD Subaru Crosstrek but it also has 9+ inches of clearance and I barely cleared some of the deeper ruts. The sandy washes aren't too deep, so you don't need too much momentum to float over, just watch out for oncoming traffic on the blind turns. Shouldn't be a problem for most trucks due to better approach angles and 4WD is not needed, just high clearance and good line selection. There is nothing to see up the north spur unless you plan to disembark and hike the rest of the way.

It was mostly dirt with a few ruts and rocks but easy for a beginner or stock 4x4. Enjoyed some funny road signs on the trail
