Trail Overview

Prairie Train Trail is a beautiful, wide trail that traces the railroad tracks through the Prescott National Forest. While this trail may seem mellow and fast, erosion on the hills, and sneaky rocks urge you to slow down and enjoy the ride through the countryside. No obstacles are on this trail, but you will see evidence of Elk Antelope, and other wildlife. An out-and-back trail, the grasslands (where the antelope and deer run free), as well as the train bridge with the water-runoff-mitigation structure, may pique your interest, as well as the graffiti. Overall, this trail is an easy way to hit dirt close to civilization while still giving the feeling that you're out in the wilderness.

North of the train bridge is truly “the road less traveled!” There are parts of the trail that Mother Nature has basically reclaimed. Nice trail, though!
