Trail Overview

Pot Cove Road is a short, scenic side trail designed for recreationists looking to access a popular beach along the shores of Lake Mohave. This easy, half-mile route is ideal for offroaders, campers, and water sports enthusiasts who want a quick detour to enjoy kayaking, fishing, or a relaxing evening by a bonfire. Branching off from East Cottonwood Cove Road approximately 19 miles in, the track descends gently toward the shoreline. The path is mostly single-vehicle width but remains well-graded, making it highly accessible for a variety of vehicles. At the end of the trail, visitors are rewarded with a beautiful sandy cove equipped with vault toilet facilities and plenty of space to set up camp right by the water's edge. With a maximum elevation of 723 feet and a minimal elevation change of just 75 feet, the drive is exceptionally gentle and rated a 2 out of 10 for technical difficulty. Although the trail is straightforward, high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles and SxSs will find the sandy sections near the beach easiest to navigate, especially when carrying heavy camping or water gear. The route is accessible year-round, though summer temperatures in this desert region can be extreme, making spring and fall the prime seasons for visiting. Visitors should remain mindful of local weather conditions, as desert winds can whip up quickly near the water.
