Trail Overview
The Pine Creek Loop trail is an interesting trail. This trail winds and waves its way through the Ponderosa Pines and Juniper trees that make up this section of the Kaibab National Forest. Cattle graze in this area, so be sure to pay attention, as they have a propensity to end up in the middle of the track. There is some erosion along this trail, but nothing too gnarly. There are wash crossings with some off-camber entrances and exits, so look out for water and additional erosion, especially during monsoon season (June-August) or after a rain or snow event. This trail has a couple of ledges on it, but nothing that would act as a large gatekeeper. The trail would connect to a loop at the top, but it was not run due to the off-camber and ledge risk of rollover when descending. It could be attempted with a vehicle with tires of 37" or higher. There is little to no service on this trail, so offline maps are a must.
Difficulty
This trail is unmaintained and could prove challenging after a moisture event. The trail has wash crossings with off camber entrances and exits, as well as a couple of larger obstacles in the loop section at the top. Caution is urged.
