Trail Overview

Mary's Dinner is a 2-mile single-track offshoot from the Airport Trail that goes through a technical rock garden. It starts at the Fay Ridge Trailhead and is a completely optional trail since it spurs off of Airport in a lollipop shape and returns to the same spot. There is a small section of rocks right away after the trailhead that acts as a "test" for whether you should continue the trail or not. There is a sign stating that if these rocks are too difficult, you should turn around. They are a couple of big boulders that aren't too bad. The difficult rocks start where the trail makes the loop. If going clockwise, it climbs up a short hill to two short rock gardens, each only 50 feet long or so. The rocks are big volcanic boulders, but not extremely difficult. Then the trail climbs up through a couple of rock ledge sections, also of volcanic rock, and you have to pick your way through it for about a half mile. The obstacles on Mary's Dinner are definitely a bit harder than the obstacles on the surrounding trails, but they aren't too extreme for the already advanced rider. They would definitely be a good place for an intermediate rider to practice some enduro skills. The trail is pretty flat, so it would be about the same difficulty whether you do the loop counter-clockwise or clockwise.
