Trail Overview

This is a two-track trail that skirts the foothills of Yuma, AZ, and has steep climbs, traverses ridge lines, and offers the most scenic route around the foothills of Yuma into Dome Valley, which allows you to link up with a network of trails onward to Wellton, AZ. This two-track trail ventures along a pole line road for part of the way and eventually links up with the Arizona Peace Trail (Yuma to Wellton section). This is a very technical trail due to erosion, steep ascents and descents, and off-camber sections. This trail is best enjoyed on a dirt bike, a quad, or a side-by-side vehicle.

Difficulty

The trail is difficult based primarily on the grade of the trail with steep inclines, loose rock, and off-camber sections. I would not recommend a two-wheel drive vehicle or a full-size 4x4. Due to high clearance entry and exit of certain sections, I recommend a high clearance 4x4 as opposed to a full-width 4x4. This is not a road for your mom's Ford Explorer.

History

This trail leads to the railroad track that runs along the Wellton-Mohawk canal and the infamous Arizona Peace Trail.
