Trail Overview

This long loop trail through the mountains is a visually stunning way to spend a few hours. The mountainous terrain is spectacular. The trail gains and loses elevation, twists along, and is bumpy in sections. Much of the route follows high-voltage power lines and numerous areas where you pop over the hill, revealing breathtaking views of the trail below. There are long, rocky steep sections and even a few loose climbs. What goes up also comes down;expect steep ascents as well. Airing down is highly recommended, as the rocky terrain could make quick work of a fully aired-up tire damaging the sidewall. Running this trail aired down will also aid in your traction and potentially not tear up the trail. The southern section of the trail travels through a long rocky wash and has spectacularly eroded tall sides. Keep your eyes peeled for plenty of great camping options and fire rings. A few bars of LTE cell reception fade in and out on this route.

Trail conditions have deteriorated due to erosion. There is now 1 significant boulder field climb I would rate a 6-7. There are two additional eroded climbs that while smaller add to the difficulty of the Trail. The views are still spectacular. Just be aware before going that high clearance and low 4 wheel drive will be required.

Since the recent rainstorms in September the trail has gotten significantly harder. This was a fairly easy trail I would have rated at a 3-4 only due to a few obstacles but now is more of a 6-7. Lots of erosion created large holes, off-camber climbs/decent, large ruts. Main “entrance” to the trail is gone (see attached pics) have to follow the wash about 100 more feet north to another way in up and in. Recommend 35s with rear locker.

This is a great trail for beginners. I’m teaching my wife the joy of wheeling and she had a great experience. She has greater confidence in her abilities.
