Trail Overview

Jackrabbit Trail is a rough, long out-and-back from the Pipeline Trail to the Barry Goldwater Test Range to the North. This rocky two-track has plenty to offer in terms of solitude, stunning scenery, and challenging driving. Steep, off-camber entrances and exits to narrow rocky washes pepper this trail as you roll in and out of saguaro forests, with amazing views of the mountains off to the east. On this trail, ocotillo, prickly pear, cholla, saguaro, and creosote dominate the desert as far as the eye can see. Jackrabbits and other small wildlife are with you on your journey as well. Numerous spur trails exist, so feel free to explore, adhering to the Tread Lightly principles. If you're lucky enough to run this trail during the rainy season or after a few rainstorms have passed through, you'll be treated with some of the most amazing colors of the flowers of the desert.
