Trail Overview
This route cuts diagonally across the trail system near Salome, Arizona, on a slightly more primitive route with tighter turns compared to the surrounding trails. The trail winds sharply through the rocky desert landscape, making sharp corners through the saguaro cactus and loose rocky hills. The trail is fainter at times, and completely unmarked, and is less obvious a route than you’ll expect in this zone, as it makes a couple of unexpected turns. It drops down into a sandy wash that is narrow as it navigates between lots of overgrown bushes. The sand can be deep in spots. There are a couple of small rock ledge features within the wash that make it more interesting and slightly more technical. They are embedded rock layers about a foot tall. It keeps going through the sand wash, which widens up, and eventually climbs back out onto a road segment of trail.
Difficulty
This trail is more moderate due to a couple of small rock ledges embedded within the sand washes. They are about a foot tall rock features. Most of the trail is easy, as it is mostly just sand or a narrow dirt trail.
