Trail Overview

This trail climbs up from NoseDive into the canyon to an elevation of 2144 feet. Entering a mine site and descending back down to HS49P. The views from the top of the hill at the Socorro Mine are spectacular. Lots of rock formations to take pictures of. The area where this mine is reminds us all of how hard mining was in this area. Limited to no water and long distance from any town for supplies.

Difficulty

This is a very narrow and rocky trail. This trail is not recommended for large 4x4 vehicles. This is not a good road in inclement weather.

History

The Socorro Mine was in operation from 1905 to 1935. It produced Gold, Silver, and Copper, with Gold being the major element.
