Trail Overview

Goat Hill ties into trails 4335 and 4338, weaving through a classic Baja desert setting filled with desert ironwood, creosote, and towering ocotillo. The route travels in and out of multiple washes with a surface of sand peppered with small rocks, giving drivers a variety of textures and terrain. A standout feature is the southern section, where the trail climbs steeply beneath a set of power lines. Here, the trail becomes rocky and loose, demanding careful tire placement and a capable 4x4 to manage the grade. Expect sections of deeper ruts and washboards throughout the route, especially near wash crossings and high-use areas. As you wind higher through the cliffs, you'll be rewarded with expansive views of the surrounding mountains and desert plains, making the climb well worth the effort.
