Trail Overview

Start at State Route 83, head west on Santa Rita Road, riding past cattle ranches and wonderful western-style homes. Take the left at the fork in the road, which is FS 4104. Continue to follow this trail until you reach the intersection with FSR 785. You may see deer, antelope, and rabbits. We saw a horse at the water pond. You will get a beautiful view of the east side of the Santa Rita Mountains. You will be riding through grassy plains with some sagebrush and pinion pine. This area is also known for finding dinosaur bones.

As soon as you come to the fence line for the Vera Earl Ranch there are many bold no trespassing signs oriented in a way that makes it appear you need to stop and turn around. Rest assured the road way is public use and named Santa Rita Rd and you are allowed to be on it. Either side of the road is private land. About 2.5 - 3 miles in, just past the first corral area, you will see USFS signs indicating there is public access. Just follow the road and pay attention to the signs as there are private roads in the area.
