Trail Overview
Forest Service Road 677B is just shy of three miles long and begins off Forest Service Road 677. The trail starts fairly easy, with loose rocks scattered across the surface as it winds through juniper trees and a few ponderosa pines.
As the route descends toward the West Clear Creek Wilderness, the terrain becomes increasingly rocky, with loose rocks covering much of the trail surface. In several areas, the trail can be faint and difficult to follow. The steepest section comes near the end of the route, where the descent is both rocky and uneven, with large loose rocks creating a more technical challenge.
After the final descent, the trail rewards travelers with incredible views overlooking the West Clear Creek Wilderness.
Difficulty
Expect an uneven, rutted, and rocky trail with areas of erosion and large loose rocks throughout the route. Some obstacles exceed 12 inches in height, though none are larger than approximately 18 inches.
