Trail Overview
This rocky two-track begins with a short climb before topping out on an open mesa with grassy hilltops and sweeping views of the lake and surrounding mountains. From the top, the trail descends back toward the water. Be sure to follow the established track and make a right about halfway down rather than continuing straight down a very steep and rocky decline. Taking the correct turn leads to a less steep, though still fairly significant, hill climb that brings you across the wash. The trail remains rocky as it weaves its way toward the water’s edge, ending at a small but scenic lakeside spot. There are also several great camp options on the hilltops with elevated views, and also at the water's edge.
Difficulty
This trail is rated 4/10 primarily due to the steep hill climb; the rest of the road feels more like a 3/10. While most of the route is easy and manageable, drivers should be comfortable with short, steep climbs and controlled descents in high-clearance 4WD vehicles.
